The Employment Relations Specialist is a non-exempt, full-time staff position which assists management within Career and Professional Development. This position is located at the Career Center Offices on Glassell.

The Employment Relations Specialist serves as a part of the Employer Relations team and share in the overall responsibility for the creation of a comprehensive, world-class, Employer Relations services area. The Employer Relations Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with local, regional, and national employers to increase recruitment of college students and recent graduates. The Employer Relations Specialist will determine hiring needs of employers and promote the college’s majors to employers by outreach and off-site employer visits. This position will assist with on-campus recruitment events and will oversee the posting of employment opportunities on job portal.  This role supports the Associate Director in facilitating the One Chapman Experience to students, employers, faculty, alumni, and key constituents of the university by maintaining exceptional customer service designed to enhance the relationships with the university. The position encompasses the following three distinct areas of responsibility: Employer Relations, Event and Program Engagement, and Database Management. 



The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for the Employer Relations Specialist position.

Specific Job Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in related field. At least three years of experience and knowledge of employment policies and procedures, human resources, career development and/or related professional experience. Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service and coordinating logistics of events. Ability to formulate and communicate policies and procedures for recruiting, internship programs. Ability to learn and ensure FERPA requirements are upheld.

General Job Requirements: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to relate to, network and communicate effectively with diverse constituents. Strong organizational skills to collect data for events and workshops, and to maintain accurate and orderly files. Writing skills to compose correspondence, prepare written materials and reports. Analytical skills to identify and research information, analyze and resolve problems, assess alternatives and escalate concerns when needed. Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental applications related to the position. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality. Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service. Ability to demonstrate initiative in completing tasks and work well with team members.

Desired: Knowledge of marketing concepts and strategies. Experience in using social media tools. Experience in providing career development services, preferably in higher education.
