AIS Educator Conference

Colorado Springs, Colorado

The conference schedule will include:

Sam Antar  The former CFO of Crazy Eddie, Inc., and a convicted felon, Sam Antar helped mastermind a securities  fraud that cost stockholders hundreds of millions of dollars.  He will provide you with a new perspective on internal controls, corporate governance, and other accounting/auditing issues. His pro bono presentation demonstrates his passion to educate society on the dangers and negative impact of financial statement fraud.

 

Tushar Padhier  A senior manager with Ernst & Young’s Advisory Services practice, Tushar is active in the implementation and assessment of his client’s PCI Security Standards to ensure the protection of sensitive data.  Tushar will discuss the standards, the economic risks of ineffective data security, and the related career opportunities available to accounting graduates.

 

Computer Training  Hands-on training will be conducted on today’s most popular AIS software. Recent conferences have included seminars on SAP, Great Plains, Peachtree, ACL, IDEA, Access, Excel, Visio, SQL, and Camtasia.

 

Educational and AIS Research  Educators and practitioners will share their research, educational best practices, and student cases.

 

Call for Papers  The deadline for research papers and graduate student papers is March 1, 2009. Submissions to the Jack and Maye Stewart AIS Project Competition are due May 1, 2009. An official call for papers will be emailed on November 1, 2008, to educators who have a profile on the AIS Educator Association website. University of Waterloo

Symposium on Information Integrity and

Information Systems Assurance

October 1-3, 2009

The Center for Information Integrity and Information Systems Assurance at the University of Waterloo (UWCISA) is pleased to announce its 6th bi-annual symposium to be held in Toronto, Canada.

 

Papers are invited from academe and practice. Although papers on the theme of the symposium will be given preference, papers on other IS/IT topics will be considered. All research methods are welcome. Instructional case submission and papers addressing education issues related to information integrity and information systems assurance are also welcome for presentation consideration. Accepted papers will be published in the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems together with discussants’ comments subject to editorial review and approval.

Submissions are Due June 1, 2009

Submitted papers should be at an advanced stage of completion. Papers will be subject to blind peer review by academics and practitioners. Authors must adhere to the editorial style of IJAIS.
