Responsibilities:

To serve as assistant to the Director of Development for the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts providing administrative and clerical support that contribute to the attainment of stated goals. Specific efforts include: extensive written communication, preparation of proposals and supporting documents, creation of reports and spreadsheets for the organization of data, data entry and database management, management of calendars, assistance with special events, and any other office duties and miscellaneous tasks assigned.

This position may require evening and weekend hours to accommodate business needs. May require travel to off-site locations.

Qualifications:
Required: Recent experience in providing administrative or clerical support to professional staff. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the University. Strong organizational skills, with proven ability in scheduling, calendaring and coordinating logistics for individual and committee meetings, special events and mailings. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills including the demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence and other documents. Extensive experience in maintaining multiple, complex databases and mail merging. Excellent telephone etiquette skills and ability to take and communicate accurate messages. Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects and complete them in a timely manner. Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions. Strong commitment to the concepts of customer service and teamwork. Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to use standard office equipment, including multi-line phone system, copier, fax and calculator. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint), database systems, and the Internet.

Desired: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Achievement of proficient use of the Benefactor database system used at Chapman and the promotion of best practices. Knowledge of Chapman University policies and procedures pertaining to the duties of this position.
