The position will be located at the University College Central Offices in Irvine, California.
Under supervision, provides support for hardware and software installed at all University College Campuses. Responsible for the setup, installation, configuration, and evaluation phases of preparing a computer for use by the customer. Provide technical, instructional, and administrative support to Chapman University College employees. Diagnose and repair computer hardware and software problems; Install new and upgrade outdated software on a regular basis; Setup, configure, and evaluate hardware and software; Prepare, evaluate, upload hard drive images; and download the proper image and evaluate for accuracy. Provide phone support for University college Campuses; Evaluate and assess the end users needs and problems; and Troubleshoot and resolve network, printing, e-mail, hardware and software problems. Assist in the training of individuals or a group in current software operating systems and current applications; Provide familiarization of hardware and software to staff, faculty, and administrators; Conduct research for existing hardware and software; and acquire, update and maintain networking and computing certifications of education, related to University specific hardware and software. Prepare new and used equipment for shipping to University College Campuses; Unload, sort, log in, and stack new and used equipment; Prepare the proper documentation for shipping packages; Update computer hardware and software configuration forms; and maintain proper organization of hardware, software, and supply inventories. Must be willing to travel overnight frequently to off campus location (Up to 50 percent travel outside of the city of Orange. Must occasionally provide own transportation and transport materials to other sites outside of Orange County. Must be able to rent a vehicle for transportation with in California and Washington state (must be 25 years old to rent). Must be available to work after normal working hours, including weekends and holidays.
Desired: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or Business Administration. Networking specific (e.g. Microsoft MCP, MCSE, and Cisco CCNA) certification(s). Prior experience providing administrative and instructional support in an academic institution. Demonstrated ability in the use of Windows operating systems. Prefer working knowledge of administrative and academic computing systems typically used in higher education. Knowledge of Chapman University policies and procedures pertaining to the duties of the position.
