The Associate Director of Annual Giving will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual unrestricted gifts to the university. Constituent groups will include alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, and other friends of Chapman University. Increase the visibility of the university among its constituent pool, research and prospect management, and fundraising for unrestricted gifts. Will be expected to meet individually with a varied and sophisticated pool of prospects (16-20 visits and 4-6 solicitations per month) targeting $1,000-$25,000 gifts. Prepare development reports to evaluate progress toward achievement of quarterly/annual goals. Analyze information to identify trends and patterns. Provide recommendations to Director on strategy improvements. Maintain donor databases and help manage donor stewardship initiatives. Utilize moves matrix system to move prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycle. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor and demonstrate credibility, judgment, honesty, integrity, trust and the ability to motivate others.
May be required to drive personal vehicle to off-campus event/meeting locations. May be required to travel overnight. May be required to maintain flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.
Desired: An understanding of higher education and the ability to build alliances, navigate challenges, think creatively, and work collaboratively. Experience in alumni fundraising and/or event/volunteer coordination. Familiarity with Chapman University.
