Work collaboratively with other Theatre Technicians to support the technical production needs in the Chapman Auditorium and other locations as assigned. Work closely with student assistants and ensure proper job and safety training. Review and understand designs, floor plans and elevations for each project. Work with clients and other technicians to implement their theatrical needs for the events, including electrics, light boards, dimmers, sound systems, rigging, drapery, flats, risers and standard event set-up, through use of appropriate theatre techniques. Operate appropriate theatrical equipment and tools and maintain general upkeep of facilities. Analyze problems that arise on the job and make sound recommendations for resolution in support of project goals. Communicate with appropriate client and technician to provide and obtain information relating to materials and methods to execute designs. Troubleshoot tool and equipment concerns, do basic repair as needed and use shop tools in a safe working condition. Use ideas and experience with theatre processes and equipment to be more productive. Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.
This position requires flexible and non-standard working hours as necessary to facilitate productions including nights, weekends and occasionally holidays.
Desired: Experience with the ETC Express 125, the Allen and Heath GL 3300 and the DBX Drive Rack. Knowledge of set construction. Knowledge of video projection equipment.
