The Assistant Vice President will oversee the following development programs: annual giving, athletics, scholarships, donor recognition/stewardship, volunteer support groups and special events, including the American Celebration and the Economic Forecast and Update events. The Assistant VP will be responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating 5 direct reports who collectively manage 7 staff members. Specifically, the Assistant VP will provide strategic oversight of annual giving and scholarship programs as well as personally cultivate, solicit, and provide stewardship to major gift ($50,000 or more) and annual leadership gift ($1,000 to $49,999) prospects and donors. Also, the Assistant VP will secure individual and corporate sponsorships for special events and direct a student affairs fund-raising initiative which includes capital fund-raising projects and an annual athletics fund-raising campaign. The Assistant VP will work closely with the director of donor recognition to strengthen the university's relationships with donors and volunteer support groups including Town and Gown and the Fashionable Women of Chapman. In collaboration with University Advancement leadership, the Assistant VP will create cultivation and solicitation strategies for approximately 50 to 75 major and annual leadership gift prospects, with the expectation that the prospect pool will grow as his/her staff develops and their programs grow. The Assistant VP will visit 8 to 10 prospects per month, make 2 to 3 solicitations per month, and identify 1 to 2 new prospects per month. The Assistant VP will also assist with special fund-raising initiatives as needed.
May be required to drive personal vehicle to off-campus event/meeting locations. May be required to travel overnight. May be required to maintain flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.
