Responsibilities:

Successful completion of criminal background check required for final candidate. In addition, a DMV record check is required before and during employment. Continued employment in this position requires ongoing satisfactory DMV records reviews.

Provide application and programming support for the university administrative information systems, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly and can be utilized for daily operational needs. Serve as a contact with departmental users for design requirements, production problems and providing technical guidance. Troubleshoot and diagnose the assigned university software application(s) which includes, but is not limited to, student and financial packages, document imaging products, and web-based applications. Identify software/project needs and critically analyze those needs to develop the most effective business solution. Develop upgrades and module support software for the assigned university software application(s). Conduct feasibility studies of new programming requests. Develop project plans. Design and develop the program code, perform all aspects of testing including module integration and user testing. Provide training and documentation on all levels. Coordinate implementation and on-going support of developed software. Administer application support by creating/modifying rules and procedures, integrate application software with operating system environment, and maintain application data maintenance processors. Develop application reports or reporting techniques for the assigned application by identifying the elements of the reporting needs, data identification, develop the query and/or program, perform all aspects of testing, and coordinate implementation and on-going support of reports to support the business direction of the university. Provide solutions for application software integration with the PC/network. This includes communications management, end user reporting, and PC to Host interface. Understand and perform data base administration and understand the integration of assigned software modules with ancillary products used on the campus. This includes database performance monitoring, file creation, data correction and integrity, and data manipulation. Understand perform operations system support, and understand the integration of assigned software modules with standard operating procedures. This includes, process monitoring, print, queue management, fundamental Unix administration, fundamental security administration, fundamental system performance, and fundamental Unix shell programming. Perform other duties as assigned.

Must pass the Science Research Associates Computer Programmer Aptitude Battery with a 70 percentile or better. May be required to work extra hours to complete projects by a specific deadline.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field. Proven ability to evaluate data, assess alternatives, and make decisions and/or recommendations as required. Proven ability to design and implement systems using programming and analytical skills. Proven ability to perform complex calculations. Proven knowledge of Datatel Colleague and Benefactor modules. Proven ability using FTP/Data Communications. Knowledge of the Unix operating system, preferably HP-UX. Proven ability using HP-UX Third Party Tools. Proven ability using Microsoft Office Suites. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Skill to prioritize duties when faced with interruptions, distractions, and fluctuating workload. Proven ability to adapt to new technologies.

Desired: Proven ability using UniData Relational Database/UniData tools. Proven ability using CASE tools/Envision tools. Proven ability using Basic/UniBasic Programming. Proven ability using Client Server applications. Proven ability using Microsoft Operating Systems. Working knowledge of the campus and the university policies and procedures that pertain to the duties of this position.
